



Empowering Women in Tech: SheLeadsTech Mentorship Program
On September 14, 2023, SheLeadsTech, a special mentorship program aimed at empowering young women in technology was hosted at the New Faculty Boardroom of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, USJ. Organized by the USJ ISACA Student Group in collaboration with the ISACA Sri Lanka Chapter, this event brought together young female undergraduates with tech aspirations and industry experts under one roof.
The event featured an impressive lineup of speakers who enlightened the audience in 3 major sessions, including:
1. Ms. Chathumini Samaranayake (Information Security Risk Officer at EMAPTA and GRC professional) – Industry Trends and Emerging Technologies
2. Ms. I.D. Ayodya Ranasinghe (Cyber Security Analyst at Quantei Australia) – Cyber Attacks and Cyber Security Tools
3. Ms. Silakshi Jayawardena (Membership Director at ISACA Sri Lanka Chapter) – Work-Life Balance and Well-being
The sessions provided attendees with valuable insights into the ever-evolving tech industry, the importance of cybersecurity, and strategies for maintaining a healthy work-life balance in the fast-paced tech world.
In addition, the event was graced by the presence of Prof. Lasith Gunawardhana, Head of the Department of Information Technology, and Mr. Prabhasara Athurupane, Faculty advisor and Senior Treasurer of the USJ ISACA Student Group.
Notably, the initiative drew the attention of numerous enthusiastic female undergraduates where they were able to gain invaluable insights, network and connect with industry professionals.
SheLeadsTech was a success in making a positive impact towards the movement to empower the next generation of female tech leaders. The ISG in USJ is committed to making more such significant contributions to nurturing careers in the dynamic field of technology.
