Celebrating Unity and Diversity
On 24th February 2026, the ISACA Student Group (USJ ISG) of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura came together to celebrate an Iftar member gathering, a meaningful event that brought members and alumni together in the spirit of unity and cultural appreciation.
Iftar is the meal eaten by Muslims to break their fast during Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. It is more than just a meal, it is a time for reflection, gratitude, and sharing with others. Traditionally, families and communities come together to break the fast, strengthening bonds and fostering a sense of togetherness.
For us as students and members of the IT community, Iftar gatherings provide a unique opportunity to celebrate diversity, understand different cultures, and build connections beyond the academics or workplace. In today’s world, especially in the IT industry, we work with people from various backgrounds, and events like these remind us of the value of unity, empathy, and mutual respect.

This year, we were honored to have alumni join us, including past presidents of ISACA USJ and previous office bearers. They shared their experiences, insights, and guidance, inspiring us to think beyond the present and learn from their journeys. Their presence highlighted the value of mentorship and the importance of building a supportive community where knowledge and experience are passed forward.
We would like to sincerely thank our partners for supporting this event. Their contributions helped make this gathering possible, allowing us to come together in a welcoming environment to celebrate culture, diversity, and community spirit.

As undergraduates, being part of such initiatives helps us grow not only professionally but also personally, fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and unity that we carry forward in every aspect of our lives.
